Location: Alton, Hampshire (Alton Office 2 days + Home 3 Days)
Salary: GBP45,000 + GBP15,000 OTE
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Technical Sales Manager on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities for the Technical Sales Manager:
1. Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
2. Build and qualify a sales pipeline of 5X monthly and annual business targets, ensuring all leads, opportunities, and client interactions are qualified, accurately tracked, and updated.
3. Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote the company’s services and expand professional networks.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, consultants, and industry influencers to generate leads and secure new projects.
5. Act as a brand ambassador and promoter.
6. Respond to requests for quotes/information/proposals (RFQ, RFI, and RFPs) and prepare fee proposals, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required information.
7. Collaborate with the Operational and Technical Principal Engineers to develop competitive pricing strategies and bid submissions.
8. Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities for business growth.
9. Negotiate contracts and close deals through full sales cycles to achieve sales targets and contribute to the company’s revenue goals.
10. Provide regular reports on business development activities, performance, and market insights to Senior Management.
11. Contribute to the development of go-to-market value propositions, marketing materials, case studies, and other promotional content to support business development efforts.
Skills and Qualifications for the Technical Sales Manager:
1. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English.
2. Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role.
3. Strong understanding of sales processes and market analysis.
4. Experience completing fee proposals.
5. Experience in consistently attaining sales targets.
6. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant professional networking tools (LinkedIn).
7. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
8. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
9. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry professionals, and internal teams.
10. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
11. Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changes quickly.
12. Willingness to travel to attend onsite meetings with clients and networking/marketing events, as required.
13. Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and willing to take the initiative.
14. A strong work ethic with high standards for quality.

16. Reliable and committed team player, willing to help and support others where needed.
Desirable for the Technical Sales Manager:
1. A-Level (or equivalent) and/or BA degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields such as Earth Science or Engineering.
2. Proven experience in business development, sales, or a similar role within the construction industry.
3. Strong understanding of construction processes, project management, and market dynamics.
