About our team:
The Energy Solutions (ESS) business unit is a "startup within an established, global company" at the Rochester Toyota Material Handling North America Energy Solutions Development Center, leading technical aspects of an emerging business with the support of an established world known company and brand. Join our growing engineering team to identify, develop, and deploy leading-edge energy storage technologies for various material handling vehicle platforms that enable best in class Total Cost of Ownership for our customers in productivity, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
About the position:
We're looking for an Electrical Systems Engineer to lead electrical architecture and hardware development activities for Energy Solution product lines including battery and fuel cell systems. In this role, you will:
1. Design, develop, and integrate electrical systems for fuel cell and battery applications, ensuring seamless operation and performance.
2. Define component specifications and work with component vendors to evaluate and integrate electrical subsystem components into the product design.
3. Working independently or collaborating with vendors to create and validate electrical circuit designs, including schematics and PCB layouts, for fuel cell and battery management systems.
4. Develop prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to validate electrical systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
5. Diagnose and resolve electrical system issues, implementing effective solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency.
6. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports.
7. Collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers, software developers, test engineers and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive system integration and functionality.
8. Support functional safety engineers to develop risk and safety analysis documentation, including FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), and S/DFMEA (System/Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
9. Provide guidance and training to team members on electrical design and best practices.
About you:
1. Bachelor's in Electrical or Systems Engineering.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical systems engineering, preferably within the automotive or industrial sectors.
3. Proficiency in electrical circuit design and analysis.
4. Experience with battery management systems and fuel cell technologies.
5. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
6. Familiarity with CAD tools for circuit design (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
7. Experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE).
8. Experience commercializing circuit designs and optimizing the design for manufacturing.
9. Experience designing circuits requiring agency approval (UL, etc).
10. Experience with high voltage (> 60V) system design and protections.
11. Familiarity with battery systems especially related to motive power.
12. Excellent organization, coordination, and planning abilities.
13. Superior interpersonal, communications and listening skills.
14. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
15. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
16. Ability to present technical material to a technically diverse audience.
It would be great if you had:
1. Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. Related certifications in electrical engineering or systems engineering.
About the total compensation package:
Salary - $149,500 - $205,300 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate's education and experience.
Relocation - This position may qualify for relocation.
