We have been on an exciting improvement journey and have recently been recognised and rewarded by the Trust for the quality of hearing screening service we provide and the effective way we work as a team.
The post provides the opportunity to train as and qualify as a Newborn Hearing Screener, working collaboratively as part of a team to provide newborn hearing screening in conjunction with national guidelines and protocols. Opportunity to further develop knowledge and skills will be gained during the completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Newborn Hearing Screening to provide support and highly expert advice to women throughout the antenatal and newborn screening pathways.
We are offering the position of Newborn Hearing Screener within the well-established and experienced Newborn Hearing Screening Team. Offering hearing screening to all eligible babies to facilitate early identification of permanent childhood hearing loss whilst ensuring babies and their families are fully supported.
• To identify babies that require screening, and by following guidelines and protocols, which babies need follow up appointments; to carry out newborn hearing screening on eligible babies.
• Undertaken newborn hearing screening in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Respects and maintains equipment - completing daily quality assurance checks and reporting issues to the Senior Team.
• Deliver a family friendly service; providing accurate information and promoting the screening service to families. Ensuring families' needs are met and that information provision is accessible and patient centred.
• Work with raw computer data - providing local and national data management whilst adhering to Trust policy regarding protecting patient data and confidentiality.
• Relevant administration tasks relating to appointing babies and referring babies to audiology teams.
