The Trade Marketing Manager is a vital member of our Trade Marketing team within the wider Commercial Own Brand group, responsible for implementing the TM strategy and securing supplier investment that drives performance across our retail, coffee shops and pubs and bars. You will keep abreast of market dynamics, understand consumer behaviour and build close working relationships with our key supplier partners, as well as possessing the hunger and drive to seek out and negotiate new investment.
Main Duties
1. Collaborate with the teams of each sales channel to develop Trade Marketing (TM) strategies that align with business objectives
2. Nurture and maintain strong relationships with key trade partners, working with them to showcase SSP network, understand Brand Plans, create shared objectives and develop marketing initiatives
3. Create Activation Plans, co-ordinate the creation of marketing POS materials and allocations and create unit SharePoint posts for own Supplier campaigns
4. Analyse sales data, market trends and keep up to date on competitor activities
5. Work closely with each business channel team to implement the Annual Trade Marketing Plan
6. Work closely with Purchasing to align on supplier negotiation
7. Work closely with Finance to ensure all activity is invoiced in a timely manner
8. Track and forecast annual TM income for Suppliers within remit
9. Input into annual TM budget development proposal
10. Support organisation of annual Supplier Conference to share SSP trading strategy, relationship build and grow TM investment into SSP from our suppliers
11. Support and stand-in for Senior Trade Marketing Manager
Knowledge, skills and experience required
12. Proven experience in a similar Trade Marketing role including strategy and budget development
13. Advanced supplier relationship building and development skills
14. Advanced negotiation skills
15. Strong all round business acumen and understanding of sales drivers
16. Ability to spot opportunities and turn them into profitable activities
17. Ability to project manage multiple workstreams and priorities to ensure delivery of the strategy
18. Ability to drive decision-making through fact based analysis
19. Experience of drawing out business insights from analysis and presenting findings and recommendations persuasive
20. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally
21. Good understanding of the operational reality in units e.g. environment, service, labour, waste, equipment, space and layout, ease of execution
22. Team leading, coaching and development experience
