Job Overview
To be involved in organising learning activities and delivering teaching for Undergraduate Medical Students across 3rd, 4th, and 5th Years. You will liaise with medical students to identify any issues as they arise and keep the Head of Teaching Academy informed. Work collaboratively with HEE West Midlands' Virtual Learning strategy and engage with senior leaders in the Post Graduate Virtual Learning Environment team on a local and regional scale. The selected candidate will also join the simulation strategy team for HEE West Midlands to promote the simulation hub at Russells Hall Hospital.
Main Duties of the Job
* Teaching Responsibilities (60%): Assist the teaching team in delivering all aspects of teaching to a range of undergraduate students.
* Clinical attachment, research, and audit (40%).
* Assist in the assessment of 3rd, 4th, and 5th year students, including case presentations, work-based assessments, and OSCEs.
* Assist Consultants in evaluating teaching methods for students.
* Teach on the lecture programme for 3rd year undergraduate students when required, including preparing PowerPoint presentations.
* Have an interest in information technology and digital systems to develop expertise in Undergraduate and Postgraduate training and education, supporting technology-enhanced learning.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* Satisfactory progression through training as demonstrated by satisfactory RITA or ARCP outcomes.
* Medical qualification recognised by GMC.
* Post MRCS/MRCP/Royal College Examinations.
Skills & Experience
* 1-2 years’ Postgraduate NHS experience in Clinical Medicine or Surgery.
* Evidence of strong interest in teaching and knowledge of UK undergraduate curricula.
* Experience in teaching clinical skills in the workplace or training environment.
* 1-2 years’ postgraduate NHS experience in clinical medicine or surgery at ST/CT level.
* Experience in facilitation of simulation courses.
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge of current issues within Undergraduate Education (Essential).
* Higher qualification or training in Medical Education.
