Salary: from 25,500 per annum, depending on training and experience We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is an Ofstead outstanding rated Children Services located in Croydon The Children’s Services company employs a therapeutic approach called 'Intentional Parenting' to support children and young people in residential care. They provide tailored therapeutic interventions for those with complex care needs, ensuring the entire professional team understands the therapeutic model through a team-around-the-child approach. By meeting children where they are and incorporating their perspectives, the staff fosters positive relationships and engages them on their recovery journey through intensive support and mentoring, establishing a safe and supportive environment. Purpose of Post The post holder reports to the Registered and Deputy Manager of the residential home, managing resources to ensure a positive living experience for resident children. He/she will also assume the registered manager's responsibilities under the Care Standards Act 2000, Children's Homes National Minimum Standards, and Children's Home Regulations The Right Candidate The successful applicant will support and manage staff within the residential home, while acting as a cooperative parent to the children we care for The service will primarily support children with EBD and the duties will include: Understand and implement the company's Statement of Purpose and the Residential Worker’s role while adhering to the Codes of Conduct as a role model. Participate in care and education programs tailored for each young person, encouraging their self-esteem and respect. Contribute to the development and review of Placement Plans, promoting anti-discriminatory practices and equal opportunities. Foster a friendly environment, support decision-making participation, and maintain effective partnerships with families and the community. Adhere to Health and Safety, Fire Safety, and Food Hygiene guidelines while ensuring accurate records for the home's administration. Promote positive relationships with staff and uphold the company’s reputation in external communications. Participate in team meetings, training, and the Rota system, including "sleeping in" duties as required. Qualifications and Experience Candidates must evidence a good standard of education and /or life skills and be willing to progress their career by undertaking additional training as required Experience in working with young people in a care setting is desirable A willingness to engage in training and development Work Based Competency Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, agencies, and young people while maintaining confidentiality. Essential NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent Or to be working towards the completion of an NVQ Level 3 Due to Ofsted Regulations, all employees in Their Residential Service must be over 20 years of age Previous experience in a Practitioner or Senior Role in a Residential or children’s Care Setting Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Service or equivalent GCSE in Maths and English at C Grade of above Physically fit Resilient, enthusiastic, and motivated person Ability to lead staff teams effectively and confidently Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Calm, approachable manner, adaptable and non-judgemental Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team Excellent organisational skills Knowledge of Child Protection & Safeguarding Ability to drive and holds a current driving licence Desirable Any relevant or transferrable skills, such as First Aid trained Knowledge of the Children Act & Children’s Homes Regulations Understanding and knowledge of the Therapeutic Approach to Childcare Responsible To: Registered Manager and Deputy Manager Responsible For: All Staff and children within the home Flexibility The flexibility of hours as there will be occasional contact outside of normal working hours Equal Opportunities Responsible for understanding and promoting equal opportunities policy Health and Safety To be responsible for the health and safety of residents and staff Salary and leave From £25,500 per annum which includes 1 sleep every 8 days 5 days on 3 days off Annual leave 28 days per annum inclusive of bank holidays All bank holidays are paid at a day-and-a-half rate Overtime available
