Job summary We have an exciting opportunity within our Paediatric Day Unit/Outpatient team for a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse. Oak Ward is a day unit caring for children and young people aged from birth to 18 years providing surgical care covering specialities like Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmology. We also do MRIs, specialist infusions and investigations like Endocrine. We work closely with our Paediatric specialists nurses which includes diabetic, epilepsy, safeguarding and allergy specialist. In Outpatients we help facilitate outpatient appointments for Consultants from a range of specialities. Working effectively as a member of the multi-professional team Both Units are primarily Monday to Friday with varying shifts times / patterns from including 0715-1945 hours, 0715-1515 hours and 0845-1715 depending on which unit are working in. Main duties of the job The main duties of this role are to be: Responsible for managing the care provided to our patients on a shift by shift basis, supporting junior members of the team in providing high quality, evidence based care. To support the ward manager in providing clinical and managerial responsibility for the Day Unit and Paediatric Outpatients.
