About the Role:
As the Head of Music, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative music lessons across KS3 and KS4, while also overseeing the development and direction of the music department. This role requires strong leadership skills, as you will manage a team of teachers, set departmental goals, and ensure high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. You will play a key role in promoting music education, both in the classroom and through extracurricular activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the music department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
Teach music to students across KS3 and KS4, fostering a love for music and developing their musical skills.
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in line with the school's curriculum and expectations.
Organise and lead extracurricular music activities, including school performances and events.
Provide support and guidance to colleagues in the department, promoting professional development.
Work collaboratively with the school leadership team to drive improvements and enhance the music curriculum.
Ensure the department meets the school's behavioural, attendance, and academic standards.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience in teaching music at the secondary level (KS3 and KS4).
Leadership experience in a school setting, ideally in managing a department or leading extracurricular activities.
Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
A passion for music education and the ability to inspire students to achieve their best.
A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
