Ontic, an aerospace industry leading provider of ‘Extended Life Solutions’ for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) legacy and non-core products, is looking for Electronic Component Engineer to join our team based in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham to support our continued success and ambitious growth plans. As the globally trusted aerospace partner in supporting and supplying established aircraft parts to the world’s aerospace leaders, Ontic provides established product solutions and expert OEM support. Ontic is experiencing ongoing growth due to the continual acquisition of product licenses contributing to growing workload for our OE (Original Equipment) and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) operations. Please note: for the right candidate we are able to offer sponsorship for this role. We won't be able to offer relocation support to those not already residing in the UK What will you be doing? As our Component Engineering expert, your role will involve providing assistance and guidance to colleagues, suppliers, and subcontractors on a daily basis. Your primary objective will be to conduct thorough analysis and comparison of various components to determine compatibility, particularly when faced with challenges like obsolescence, extended lead times, or minimum order quantities. You'll leverage your proficiency in navigating the company's Component Management Information System (CMIS) to maintain meticulous records. Additionally, you'll be responsible for overseeing obsolescence management plans and shelf life procedures to ensure seamless operations. What will you need to know? You’ll have gained experience in a similar role with knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical components combined with an understanding of obsolescence management database. We’re very open in regards to the industry you’ll have gained experience within; Aerospace experience isn’t essential but we do need someone with experience in component engineering. You’ll be a proactive person who enjoys identifying issues early before they can impact production activities, but also be comfortable working at pace to problem solve critical issues. You’ll need to be comfortable making recommendations of alternate materials (at internationally recognised standards) when face with the obsolescence of national standards. Analysis and attention to detail are key to this role as well.
