We are now on the lookout for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support our Senior Quantity Surveyors in our Southern Region. The role will be working on interesting civil engineering schemes in Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire and West Sussex, including Highways, Structures, River works and Flood Protection. The role will be based out of the Farnborough Regional Office with travel to site locations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide general assistance to Senior Quantity Surveyors
2. Assist with preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
3. On-site measurement and measurement of drawings as required
4. Assist with identifying potential risks and evaluate options for control
5. On-going cost analysis of maintenance and repair work
6. Feasibility studies of clients requests
7. Assist with preparation of estimates and analysing sub-contractors quotations
8. Assist with preparation and agreeing variation accounts
9. Prepare and issue certification for contract payments to sub-contractors
10. Assist with providing evidence for resolution of disputes

Skills Required
1. We are looking for a highly organised individual with great negotiation skills and excellent verbal and written English, who can demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving.
2. You will have the ability to negotiate across the various levels of any construction environment and be able to handle the financial and mathematical demands of the role by possessing impressive numeracy skills.
3. Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a civil engineering environment and undertaking the commercial function for active contracts.
4. Must have some working knowledge of NEC forms.
5. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
