Job summary
We are pleased to invite applications to join the Consultant Radiologist Team at National Imaging Academy Wales (NIAW). The successful applicant will be employed for a single session for training at the Imaging Academy. The contract and salary will be via Service Level Agreement. This exciting facility has been successful in enabling increased training capacity in Wales. It is based in the Academy Building at Pencoed, near Bridgend. Its facilities include a 100-seat lecture theatre, two workstation classrooms, an ultrasound suite, ultrasound simulation and dedicated audio-visual equipment for training delivery.
NIAW are looking for a trainer with a keen interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology to continue to deliver high quality Radiology training at the Academy site to enhance the existing teaching and training at the Welsh Hospital sites. Main duties of the job
A Consultant Radiologist trainer at NIAW is expected to provide Radiology training for Radiology trainees during their session commitment. The majority of these training sessions will be for the core training of Specialist Training years 1-3 (ST1, 2 &3). The content will be developed as a team with other Consultant Trainers, the Academy Management and the Training Programme Directors.
The Consultant Trainer will be expected to:
Deliver training at the Academy
Contribute to the leadership of training at the Academy
Provide supervision of trainees
Direct training including teaching, including image interpretation and report checking

Contributing to teaching undergraduate medical training
Contributing to education and training of non-radiology clinicians and allied health professionals
Participating and leading on research and innovation facilitated at the Academy
Contribute to courses and conferences hosted at the Academy
Contribute to developments for NHS Wales Diagnostic Services, such as workforce planning or developing sonographer training

4. Able to undertake duties at NHS Consultant level, including management and leadership responsibilities. This includes organisation of teaching, training & audit. Understand the principles of clinical audit. General management skills.
5. MB BCh or equivalent. Post Graduate Diploma, FRCR, MRCP At time of interview, the candidate must be: -on the Specialist Register. -or have a primary medical qualification and recognised specialist qualification from an EEA country or Switzerland which will allow direct entry onto the Specialist Register. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and training Current/recent role in training. Ability to deliver required subspecialty training. To perform to GMC standards Promoting Excellence: Standards for medical and education training, GMC 2016
6. Familiarity with UK hospital systems and practice.
