The Matron role works as part of a team with the Heads of Nursing and Operational Managers to provide clinical and operational leadership to the respective clinical area. A key element of the role will be setting the tone and modelling collective and compassionate leadership behaviours that build positive staff engagement and an inclusive culture to ensure that our patients experience the best and safest care with us.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will ensure quality care is delivered in accordance with the highest standards and will be responsible for overseeing the planning and management of resources. They will ensure high standards of care are implemented and a culture of accountability and professionalism is observed.
The post holder plays a crucial role in infection control by working in partnership with all staff and the infection control team to promote health and well-being and reduce risks to patients. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for assessing the risks to the health and safety of staff, patients, and visitors and to the achievement of the Trust's objectives. The post holder must ensure that identified risks are reported so that significant clinical and non-clinical risks are included in the Trust Risk Register.
The role involves working and collaborating with the Head and Deputy Head of Nursing and other key stakeholders in shaping policies and strategies for the future of nursing within the directorate. The post holder will be involved in creating a clear vision for nursing in the Theatre department and contributing to the overall vision for nursing within the hospital and beyond. In addition, the post holder will play an active role in supporting the Trust-wide nursing strategy.
