The hours that we are looking to fill are Monday-08.00-18.30 (60 minute lunch break) Friday 08.00-18.30 (60 minute lunch break) Main duties of the job The main duties involve welcoming all visitors to the practice, working with patients to ensure they receive timely appointments and medical care, whilst working confidentially within practice policy. Answer telephone and deal with queries in a polite and friendly manner. Check patients in for their appointments and make follow up appointments when appropriate using the Practice computer system. Book appointments for patients both by phone and in person strictly adhering to the Practice appointment policy. Process repeat prescriptions using the computer system. Input new patient details onto the computer. Sort & amalgamate all new patients medical records. Open, date stamp and sort post. Process all results received via the computer link and ensure any GP requested actions are dealt with accordingly. Receive specimens from patients for hospital testing. Ensure the specimen box is ready for collection by the courier at the allotted time. Assist patients with form filling when required. Check the appropriate message for the answer phone is on at lunchtimes and the end of the day. Ensure that premises are left tidy and secure at the end of each session. Carry out general administrative duties including photocopying, sending of faxes and filing as a key area of work which needs to be constantly kept up to date. Oversee waiting rooms and consulting rooms to ensure they are kept tidy and stocked appropriately. Provide administrative cover when required. Occasional word processing work. Ensure confidentiality is strictly adhered to at all times. Any other general duties that may occasionally be required as directed by the Office Manager, Practice Manager or the Doctors.
