Job Description: Estimating Engineer (Home-Based) Location: Home-based with occasional visits to the main office near Milton Keynes and occasional site visits as required. Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Estimating Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves leveraging your industry knowledge and expertise to provide detailed cost and time estimates for client projects, ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining and building client relationships. The successful candidate will also play a key role in maintaining existing contracts and identifying new business opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Prepare cost budgets and detailed estimates for new contracts, ensuring consistency across all project pricing and estimations. Revise and update cost estimates as required while maintaining effective client communication. Proposal Development: Draft comprehensive, well-structured proposals adhering to client guidelines, ensuring they are competitive and include all necessary supplementary documentation. Maintain accurate records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms. Client and Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Tendering Manager and Design Team to foster innovation and creativity in client projects. Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, while maintaining a sales-oriented approach to build relationships and secure new clients. What We’re Looking For: Industry Expertise: Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment. Proficiency in building cost estimates for projects ranging from 33kV to 132kV. Familiarity with UK DNO requirements (G81) for contestable works. Knowledge of Balance of Plant (BOP) works for battery storage projects is advantageous but not essential. Skills and Competencies: Strong customer-facing skills with a background in sales and customer service. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with estimation software, such as Simpro, is advantageous. Exceptional organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
