An opportunity has arisen for a substantive Band 7 position on Gate 42 Elderly Care at Pinderfields Hospital. Gate 42 is a 42 bedded acute care of the elderly and fractured neck of femur ward providing care to patients post operatively and requiring ongoing assessment.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to lead the nursing team. You will have an understanding of effective managerial/leadership skills and demonstrate effective and efficient use of all resources available. Your proactive and compassionate approach to the management of staff and delivery of patient care will enable you to act as support, clinical leader, supervisor and teacher to all staff.
You must have the ability to lead and work with existing motivated and dedicated nursing staff and the successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high standards of patient care.
Essential qualities that you will need to demonstrate include: Professional leadership, ability to embrace and implement change, and effective communication skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to enhance the patient experience, have experience of working within an acute setting at Band 6 level or above, and have the clinical credibility to ensure that the highest standards of patient care are established, delivered and maintained. Main duties of the job
The Nurse Specialist/Team Leader will be the clinical expert and professional resource to the Multi-Professional team, patients and carers within their Speciality Service.
The post holder will take overall responsibility to develop the specialist area of practice in partnership with other members of the speciality team (General Manager, Lead Clinician, Matron, Service Manager etc) and will work collaboratively to develop services and quality of care delivered.
The post holder will manage and lead the whole service team comprising of specialist nurses/advanced nurse specialists and other team members and in addition lead the development and delivery of a programme of practice and professional development for staff within the speciality. This will be achieved through working in partnership with lead clinicians, managers and matrons.

Clinical
* Develop a high level of clinical decision making, monitor and improve standards of care, working within their advanced scope of professional practice.
* Lead clinical care by managing a patient caseload providing expert assessment, planning and evaluation.
* Co-ordinate and manage nurse-led clinics (within Speciality/service).
* Contribute towards a multi-professional approach in the management of patients within the specialist area, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
* Support patients and their families and ensure that they receive the required information to enable them to self-manage, lead or participate in their care delivery.
* To support, assist and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management.
* Work with the Matron to promote the development of nurses undertaking the CNO Ten Key Roles as considered appropriate e.g. Nurse Prescribing.
Leadership
