Southampton Business School (SBS) is placed at the centre of the University of Southampton – a top 100 University in the world (QS; US News & World Report) – and a founding member of the Russell Group of elite research UK universities. SBS hosts a vibrant and diverse community of scholars and students. It has grown substantially in breadth and size in the recent years, covering all core business and management disciplines via six Departments: Accounting, Banking and Finance, Decision Analytics and Risk, Digital and Data-Driven Marketing, Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour, and Strategy Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
About the Department of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour
The Department of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour (DHRMOB) is an internationally recognised world-class department where our teaching and research interests relate to the shifting worlds of work and employment, together with the management and behaviour of people and organisations. Members of the DHRMOB are thought leaders in their respective domains of expertise and publish widely in top-tier journals.
About you
As a Professor, you will play a key role in planning and shaping research, teaching, and knowledge exchange around leadership, as well as the school’s agenda for interdisciplinary research in this critical area for world-class business schools. You will bring to the role a strong professional reputation that should be evidenced through the production of world-class research in leading academic journals. You should have led (or participated in) major funding bids, setting up, and managing the resources needed to deliver research projects.
You will be an experienced educator with a proven track record of high-quality teaching and pedagogical innovations, and willing to contribute to the development of education policy and practice as well as design and develop courses and programmes at all levels (UG, MSc, MBA and Executive Education). You should have sufficient experience supervising doctoral students (PhD and DBA programmes).
We welcome applications from candidates with a well-established research profile in the area of leadership. The ideal candidate will have research expertise in leadership from both scholarly and practice perspectives.
Given that you will have to engage in some leadership role, you should also have demonstrable leadership skills. Such skills can be evidenced through your research, education and/or having held a key leadership role. Overall, you will have proven ability to innovate, engage and inspire students and colleagues alike, helping thus build a strong academic and collegial community.
