Deputy Area Director, Agriculture, Business Banking – North West and Southern Scotland

From expanding overseas to managing the cash and trade flows of an established enterprise, the Business Banking team of Agriculture Relationship Managers and Product Specialists provides a range of end-to- end solutions designed to help businesses reach their potential.
We are currently looking for an experienced individual to join us in the role of Deputy Area Director, Agriculture.
The Deputy Area Director will lead, coach, manage and develop a team Agriculture Relationship Directors and Managers to deliver bespoke strategic objectives ensuring excellent customer service. This should be achieved by providing clear direction in assessing and capturing customer needs and opportunities with existing, new and prospective customers and ensuring the proposed solutions meet their specific needs. You will have overall responsibility for your area’s headcount which will include a number of direct and indirect reports. You will directly report to the Area Director, Agriculture North.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Prepare and mentor Relationships in building an understanding of the client's business, identifying customer needs and delivering fair outcomes
* Act as a risk steward for the area and alongside the Area Director lead on all aspects of risk within the business including credit risk, financial crime risk and adherence to regulatory requirements.
* Observe and assist Relationship Managers to enrich engagement with customers so as to ensure meticulous Customer Due Diligence and maximum mutual commercial benefits, and, take actions post client engagement, such as providing feedback following client interactions
* Develop a sustainable business growth strategy, focusing the team on maximising the depth and breadth of existing client relationships, with an awareness of cultivating new-to bank opportunities, whilst leveraging our network
* Collaborate with colleagues to deliver appropriate needs-based solutions for customers, and, rive appropriate financial focus of the team to improve revenue growth through both current and new-to-bank clients
* When appropriate, engage in value-adding discussions with high priority clients to facilitate business execution or assist in handling sensitive risk issues and lead a team aligned to a common purpose and HSBC values.
* Manage internal profile (credit risk approvers, peers, product partners, back office, FCC Officer) to facilitate execution of client deals, referrals and management of risk issues
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
* Ability to influence and drive high performance across the business to improve efficiency and grow business
* Ability to gather, analyse and interpret comprehensive information and/or customer requirements in order to provide solutions that are commercially viable and sustainable.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, enabling productive dialogue with internal and external customers
* Understanding of the Agriculture marketplace and the competition to identify opportunities to establish competitive advantage for HSBC
* Anticipates and identifies risks and ensures appropriate steps are taken to mitigate and manage them
* Planning and organisational skills in order to manage the unexpected as well as anticipated issues or events, and, able to identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals or present suitable solutions through in-depth relevant conversations
This is a hybrid role requiring travel throughout the North West and Southern Scotland. A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
