Job summary Maternity Care Assistant Role Summary Antenatal Clinic, Sussex House, RSCH site Role Summary Maternity Care Assistants (MCA's) in the antenatal clinic work alongside Midwives, Obstetricians and the antenatal administration team. The role includes working 8.5hr days, Mondays- Fridays, and 7.5hr days some Saturdays. You will assist in the clinical care of pregnant women and people in an outpatient setting. The role will consist of clinical care and use of IT systems. Effective teamwork is essential within our small friendly team. Main duties of the job o Work closely with other members of the integrated team to facilitate the continuity of care thereby enhancing the patient experience. o Communicate verbally in an appropriate manner with colleagues, clients and relatives including situations where clients/relatives may be distressed. o Document clinical care in patient records maintaining an accurate and legible record in accordance with Trust policies and guidelines, under the responsibility of a registered midwife. Utilising digital platforms as required o Respect and maintain the client's right to confidentiality. o Able to obtain suitable methods of communication for women and their families. Booking interpreters and sign language services. o Using closed loop communication in emergency situation.
