Job summary Working Full time: 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday Fixed term basis - 18 months / secondment An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated registered nurse to join the Plastic Surgery team at the Countess of Chester Hospital on a fixed term basis for 18 months or secondment. As a skin cancer specialist nurse, the post holder will have a strong focus on skin cancer aiding the Plastic Surgery service to achieve the best outcomes for patients experiencing skin cancer. The successful applicant must have Plastics or Dermatology experience and have a keen interest in skin cancer. The post holder will require competencies. The Junior Clinical Nurse competencies are underpinned by the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (DoH, 2004) and the post holder will be expected to operate towards the higher end of each of these dimensions. Main duties of the job The post holder will be required to work closely with the senior cancer specialist nurses and alongside clinicians and the multidisciplinary team, providing holistic care. The post holder will be involved with weekly MDT discussions and responsible for completing outcomes and referrals to other specialist areas. The post holder will conduct nurse led clinics and be able to conduct these autonomously within their scope of practice. The post holder will act as a mentor to junior members of staff and clinical support workers. The post holder must be able to demonstrate good leadership skills and they must have obtained there mentorship qualification and regularly mentored and assessed junior members of staff. The post holder will have an opportunity to carry out minor operations within a outpatient setting, which is something the service are exploring.
