Neonatal care in Liverpool is going through an exciting period of change with the £15 million development of the Liverpool Women’s Hospital (LWH) site and the Liverpool Neonatal Partnership (LNP) with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital (AHCH) to develop a single service across the city.
Our new £15m extension was completed in February 2020, providing a state of the art environment for the babies and families of Liverpool. The NICU at LWH is a dynamic, diverse and growing service renowned for high standards of clinical care, research and education. The team at LWH work closely with the surgical team at AHCH to deliver a single neonatal service across the city.
A new build within AHCH is now underway to provide a Surgical Neonatal Intensive Unit.
The LNP is closely integrated with the regional fetal, maternal medicine departments; we work in partnership to deliver babies requiring complex neonatal care for cardiac abnormalities, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, EXIT procedures and antenatal diagnosed abnormalities. We are also the tertiary NICU for Cheshire and Merseyside
The successful candidate will function as a senior clinical practitioner within the neonatal services at Alder Hey and Liverpool Women's hospital, using expert knowledge and skills to achieve optimum outcome for the neonate and family in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for the neonate in partnership with the family in high dependency and intensive care nurseries and for co-ordinating, supervising and supporting the neonatal staff within an identified clinical area. You will be required to act as room leader and be responsible for supervising and mentoring junior staff, basic and post basic students within the neonatal service.
Once experienced in this role they will be required to act as shift leader as appropriate.
