Job Description
About The Role
Perhaps you want to broaden your clinical experience as part of a portfolio career. Perhaps you need the freedom of more flexible hours. Perhaps you just relish a new challenge. When you join the multidisciplinary team in our Out Of Hours service, you're back in control.
As the largest independent provider of NHS services, Practice Plus Group is delivering a new model of Integrated Urgent Care that reduces pressures on services and staff. By bringing together urgent care, clinical assessment and primary care services and NHS 111 call centres, clinical assessment and other urgent care services, we enable patients to access the right care, when they need it. It's better for everyone.
This is the perfect chance to use and develop all your skills and expertise as a General Practitioner, providing diagnosis, treatment, advice and referrals to other healthcare resources, via primary care centres and home visits. You will also use our electronic prescribing system to effectively manage the patient.
Based in our various Out Of Hours (OOH) services, you'll be working autonomously within your sphere of competency as a lead clinician in a multi-skilled team that includes advanced nurse practitioners, registered nurses, UCPs, mental health and dental nurses, prescribing pharmacists and pharmacy advisors.
We can offer this role as either bank or self-employed.
What you'll be doing:
* To visit and consult with those patients whose clinical details are passed from the call centre following nurse triage assessment, or via the Practice Plus Group Co-ordinator.
* To advise patients over the telephone, after referral from NHS Direct or another Practice Plus Group call centre, who require GP advice.
* To represent Practice Plus Group in a professional manner when in contact with the general public and other professionals.
* To work as a Primary Care Centre GP as required by service demands during a session, or to cover as a Practice Plus Group Doctor on the GP rota.
* To be responsible for prioritisation and timeliness of all consultations.
* To work with the management team, together with other members of staff, to maximise effective and efficient delivery of care to patients.
* To promote close teamwork between colleagues and to continually strive to improve the service.
* To be available for meetings and appraisals from time to time as required.
* To regularly update personal clinical skills and knowledge.
* To work within the prescribing formulary taking account of the minimum recommended length of prescribed treatment.
What we'll look for in you:
* GMC registration certificate and inclusion on the GP Performers List with a valid CCT.
* Experience to confidently manage acute and chronic presentations for both adult and paediatric patients, with a proven ability to maintain and monitor high standards of care.
* Excellent listening and communication skills, with experience of urgent care assessment and good IT/keyboard skills.
* Evidence of continuing professional development
What we can offer you:
* Competitive pay rates
* Flexible working hours
* Working with a friendly and cohesive multi-disciplinary team
* Supportive environment and senior leadership teams
* Access to our bespoke learning system
