The successful candidate will manage the bank's payroll operations and ensure the delivery of efficient and accurate payroll services.
As a key player within the HR Operations team, you will work closely with HR and Finance teams, ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations, optimising processes, and managing the day-to-day payroll activities for the organisation.
The HR Operations team including payroll are based in Manchester and follow a hybrid model of 2 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for all employees, including salary payments, bonuses, and deductions.
Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with UK regulations (PAYE, pensions, benefits, etc.).
Maintain and review payroll systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Act as the point of escalation for payroll queries and issues.
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth cross-functional operations.
Ensure all payroll activities comply with HMRC guidelines and other relevant employment laws and regulations.
Prepare and submit required statutory reports, including RTI (Real-Time Information) submissions, P11Ds, P60s, etc.
Manage payroll audits and ensure accurate record-keeping for internal and external audits.
Work closely with internal stakeholders, including HR, Finance, and Legal, to align payroll processes with business needs.
Liaise with external vendors, such as payroll software providers and benefits administrators.
Respond to employee queries related to payroll, benefits, and deductions.
Ensure employees are aware of payroll policies and any updates or changes in compensation.
Qualifications & Experience: Proven experience (5 years) in payroll management, preferably in financial services or banking sectors.
Prior experience managing payroll teams or as a senior payroll professional.
Experience in managing complex payroll processes, including bonuses, commissions, and expatriate payroll.
Proficient in payroll software (experience with systems like Oracle).
Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, statutory payments (SMP, SSP), pensions, and RTI.
Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or similar payroll certifications preferred.
Strong understanding of employment law and tax regulations.
