Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Medical Laboratory Technician in Cellular Pathology. You will support our friendly team to provide the best possible service to patients across the region. Cellular Pathology is a busy department, receiving around 35,000 histopathology and non-gynaecological requests each year and performing over 120,000 tests.
Main duties of the job
The role primarily involves working within the histopathology section of the laboratory, particularly in the microtomy section. The successful candidate will work alongside Biomedical Scientists and Pathologists; the ability to work well in a team is of paramount importance. Good communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to work under pressure, are essential. The candidate will provide training and support for the MLA team and other staff as appropriate. Demonstrating a willingness to improve processes within the lab and contributing to the continual improvement of the department is expected.
Excellent IT skills are required as the candidate will work with colleagues to implement digital slide scanning. Full training will be provided.
Working for our organisation
This is an exciting time to join the Cellular Pathology Team; the department is currently validating digital slide scanners which will be maintained by the MLT team. This is part of a wide-scale project to digitalise Histopathology across the West Midlands.
