Description
It’s an exciting time to join AXA UK’s Legal team, with significant investment planned in all UK businesses to transform, deliver new digital services to our customers, and streamline our processes. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Solicitor to join the AXA Insurance Legal team. You’ll support AXA Retail and Commercial through the provision of customer focused and commercial legal services, advice and assistance.
As Senior Solicitor, you’ll provide legal services, advice and assistance to ensure Group planning and decision making processes are appropriately informed and that legal, financial and reputational risks are managed.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home at our London office, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Provide legal services and advice, including drafting and approving documentation, to all levels of business management within agreed service standards. Liaising as necessary with external providers, to ensure that legal considerations are fully considered and risks appropriately managed.
2. Participate in the identification, analysis, and resolution of any proposals by business management likely to give rise to contraventions of the law, in order to safeguard the legal, financial and reputational standing of AXA.
3. Direct and indirect responsibility for external legal spend up to agreed limits.
4. Provide seminars, reports and training to the Legal team and business for legal matters within your expertise. This will effectively equip our colleagues with understanding and competence, enabling them to confidently carry out their roles.
5. Monitor, analyse and report on current and potential developments in the law, and the Group’s documentation. Identify any legal implications for AXA and brief, coach and advise colleagues to ensure that risks are managed and that effective systems and processes continue to be developed.
6. Monitor and implement Group risk policies.
What you’ll bring:
1. Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
2. Commercial law/contracts experience, preferably with some industry knowledge, but not essential.
3. Ability to present complex legal information clearly and accurately.
4. Technical expertise, combined with sound commercial sense and pragmatic decision making.
5. Effective planning and organisation.
6. Strong personal impact and influencing skills.
7. Professional and objective approach to work.
8. Flexible approach and attitude.
9. Good team player within own and larger team.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
What we offer:
At AXA UK, we’re appreciative of the people who work for us and our rewards package is reviewed regularly to reflect that. You can expect to receive:
