Rossendale Hospice Job description and person specification Position: Management Accountant Reports to: CEO Salary £32,038 pro rata dependent upon experience Rossendale Hospice Hours 22.5 Hours per week Job summary: the post holder is expected to: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small finance team, preparation of monthly management accounts, reconciliation of all balance sheet items and preparation of the annual budget. Key tasks/duties; FINANCE Preparation of monthly management accounts from Sage for the Hospice and Hospice Trading in a timely manner. Input all financial transactions to SAGE accounting system ensuring audit trail maintained. Preparation of year end accounts, liaising with external Accountants/Auditor. Raising of Sales Ledger invoices for ICB and other relevant Groups and Trade Debtor management. Receipting all income into Sage and reconciling to the Fundraising CRM system. Preparation of Hospice budget for review with CEO/Hospice Treasurer. Monthly variance analysis in management accounts, reporting to CEO, Management and Board on any significant variances. Updating the forecast as required. Provide ad hoc financial analysis for both the Hospice and Hospice Trading. Undertake bank reconciliations for Hospice bank accounts. Ensure best value achieved with regard to purchase of items & services. Management of Finance Admin Officer and Hospice Driver. Maintain the Fixed Asset Register including depreciation calculations. Submitting VAT reclaims and Gift Aid claims to HMRC. PAYROLL Responsible for payment of all monthly salaries utilising the SAGE payroll system, payment of monthly NI/PAYE to HMRC, and monthly submission of report to HMRC and monthly payments to Pension Schemes. Updating payroll diary and system with salary changes, tax code amendments,and benefit related issues. Liaison with tax office regarding tax code changes. Provide monthly salary reports for Treasurer/CEO. Monitoring and reporting of NHS and Hospice pensions schemes Person/professional: To attend all mandatory training sessions such as fire lectures, manual handling and CPR. Undertake mandatory e-learning training meeting required timescales. To act at all times in accordance with the hospice policies and procedures of Rossendale Hospice. At all times act as an ambassador for Rossendale Hospice to patients, relatives carers, colleagues and members of the public Engage in lifelong learning and attend any training as suggested by the CEO. Participate in annual appraisal. Health and safety Understand the fire regulations and action to be taken in the event of a fire. Report any incidents/adverse events in accordance with Rossendale Hospice policy. Understand the principles of infection control and hand hygiene. Have an understanding of the Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults policy. Take all measures to ensure that the safely of staff, patients, volunteers, supporters, customers and visitors to Rossendale Hospice in accordance with the Rossendale Hospice Health and Safety Policy. Manual handling and /or heavy lifting Key requirement of the role as detailed below Full, current, valid UK driving licenceN/A Access to a vehicle which can be used for work purposes. Disclosure & Barring Service Check (formally known as Criminal Records Bureau) - Standard MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT REQUIREMENTS Essential Educated to GCSE level, Grade C or above in Maths and English. Experience of Sage Accounts System. Experience of Sage Payroll. Experience in data entry and office systems. Experience and ability to prepare monthly management accounts from Sage Accounts System. Ability and Experience to reconcile Balance Sheet Items. Ability and experience of budget and cash flow analysis/reporting. Proficient in the use of Excel ACCA /CIMA qualified Ability to work with minimum supervision. Good standard of administrative skills. Ability to plan workload, identify and prioritise in order to meet deadlines. Ability to work flexible hours in accordance with the needs of the post.
