Job Description
1. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical design engineers, project teams, and vendors to design components and systems for large, high-quality CNC milling machines.
2. Contribute to R&D design for accessories and processes specific to large machine tool applications.
3. Design custom fixtures and workholding solutions to meet a variety of end-user needs using off-the-shelf automation components and purpose-built parts.
4. Support Manufacturing, Service, Sales, and Marketing teams with design insights, corrections and improvements.
5. Organize and participate in design reviews.
6. Work directly with vendors to establish strong working relationships and resolve issues.
7. Perform 3D CAD design using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation.
8. Conduct FEA analysis for both static and dynamic assessments.
9. Create detailed drawings of mechanical components and systems, with a focus on GD&T.
10. Engage in hands-on work with manufacturing and service teams.
11. Assist in retrofitting older equipment in collaboration with the Service team.
Qualifications
1. 5-10 years of machine design experience (other relevant experience will be considered).
2. Diploma in Mechanical Design or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics.
3. Strong 2D/3D modeling capabilities using SolidWorks, along with experience in structural FEA analysis and GD&T.
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Manufacturing experience (CNC machining, welding, casting) is an asset.
6. Experience with metal additive manufacturing and advanced manufacturing techniques is an asset.
7. Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems.
8. P.ENG is an asset.
9. International and US travel required.

4. Good understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
5. Proficient in hydraulic and pneumatic design.
6. Experience working in an ISO-certified environment and supporting ISO goals.
7. Excellent communication skills and safety-focused.
8. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
9. Knowledge of CAM software.
