Job overview
We have an exciting permanent opportunity to work as an Advanced Physiotherapist within Stroke Rehabilitation. The postholder will work on the stroke rehabilitation ward based at Freeman Hospital and will be jointly responsible for the provision of high-quality patient-centred physiotherapy service provision.
The postholder will be responsible for planning, organising, and delivering highly specialist physiotherapy care to stroke patients using advanced clinical reasoning, reflection, and analysis to inform practice. Additionally, the post holder will provide day-to-day support and management of other team members.
Main duties of the job
* To be an active member of the physiotherapy team delivering a high standard of physiotherapy care to patients within the speciality.
* To be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team within the speciality area.
* To be responsible for own continued professional development and assist CPD of other members of the physiotherapy and multidisciplinary teams.
* To be part of the weekend and bank holiday rota for stroke after a period of in-house assessment, induction, and training.
Person specification
KNOWLEDGE
* Highly specialist knowledge of medical conditions relevant to the speciality and their impact on patient’s functional abilities.
* Highly specialist knowledge of the physiotherapy process and its application with the client group in the speciality.
* Experience of undertaking quality improvement projects.
* Knowledge of current NHS initiatives.
SKILLS
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others.
* Good organisation, time management, problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to reflect and critically appraise own practice.
* Completion of Basic Bobath course or clinical equivalent.
* IT Skills.
EXPERIENCE
* Extensive post-grad experience including at a Senior level within Stroke or Neurosciences.
* Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of teaching and delivering presentations.
* Experience of carrying out audit projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Degree or equivalent Diploma in Physiotherapy.
* State Registered with Health and Care Professions Council.
* Evidence of CPD and relevant post-graduate courses to MSc level.
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
* Involvement with the relevant CSP Clinical Special Interest Group.
