Joining the Operations team and reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for the co-ordination, control and oversight of all manufacturing processes within the Chess Dynamics Horsham site. The Production Manager will ensure that all products are produced to cost, on time and ensure all quality processes and requirements are adhered to. Key Responsibilities: Management and administration of four direct reports and their teams including reviewing and managing performance through regular 1-1’s and coaching. Identification and co-ordination of team development and training needs at all levels. Management and execution of all production activities within the Chess Dynamics Horsham site. Assist the Production Control & Planning Manager in the effective scheduling and resourcing of all production activities within the Chess Dynamics Horsham site including human and material resources to meet order fulfilment targets. Develop and implement plans, processes and procedures to minimise manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital. Develop leading metrics to identify bottlenecks and problem areas to identify areas for improvement. Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques with a focus on fact-based problem solving to improve both the efficiency and productivity of the production team. Working with the Operations Manager to implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the function supports business strategic initiatives and objectives. Work with the Operations Manager and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of objectives. Ensure personal, team and visitor adherence to the company’s procedures and policies including Health & Safety. Responsible for the availability of production equipment through planned maintenance and identification of future production needs. Maintain and improve on production area layout to provide an efficient workspace that meets 6S requirements and is always ‘tour’ ready. Skills & Experience Essential 5 years’ experience in managing teams within a project or complex/customised equipment manufacturing environment. Demonstrable experience in a range of manufacturing disciplines. A ‘hands on’ approach in managing diverse and flexible production teams. Experience in planning and implementing lean strategies and methodologies. Stakeholder management and relationship building across multiple functions of a business. Be able to identify and effectively manage change within a manufacturing environment. Desirable Relevant engineering/manufacturing degree or equivalent.
