Barnardo’s Minibus Drivers transport children and families, using Barnardo’s approved minibuses, to community groups, appointments, and/or social activities. Drivers provide vital support to children and families, who would otherwise be socially isolated and unable to engage in much-needed social interactions and appointments. We are looking for friendly and approachable individuals, able to communicate well with people from a wide range of backgrounds, with a MiDAS minibus driving qualification and a full clean UK driving licence. At Include Me 2, we provide short breaks for children and young people with disabilities in Lancashire. We are looking for volunteers to support with transporting children and young people to and from our centre and other venues, such as the cinema, bowling alley, etc. There are opportunities to support Monday - Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, depending on your availability. Do you have your MIDAS qualification and time to support children, young people, or families who need help getting to and from group activities, meetings, appointments, and social activities? Tasks Transporting children and/or family members using Barnardo’s approved minibuses to/from group activities, appointments, meetings, and/or social activities. Driving the minibus safely in accordance with traffic laws and all Barnardo’s policies. Assisting staff and volunteers with helping children, young people, and families on and off the minibus. Keeping the minibus clean and tidy. Ensuring all mileage logs and paperwork are up-to-date and accurate. Adhering to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures. Participating fully in training and supervision. Volunteering within Barnardo's Values and Behaviours. Skills A current driver with a full clean UK driving licence (Essential). A MiDAS qualification to drive minibuses (Essential). Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy. Approachable and welcoming. Good listening and communication skills.
