We are seeking an experienced Senior Support Worker to join our Mental Health Recovery Service. This service consists of 7 self-contained living flats for vulnerable young adults (18-28 years old) in Newcastle. Our goal is to support individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism, helping them increase their independence and connect with the community.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will take on a leadership role and manage a 24-hour step-up, step-down service alongside the Project Manager. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and best practices. You'll supervise and support staff to create a safe and supportive environment, provide positive behaviour support to individuals with challenging behaviours and addiction issues, and deliver person-centred support to help service users lead fulfilling lives, participate in the community, and build self-esteem and confidence.
Following risk management strategies, you will encourage positive risk-taking to foster independence while ensuring the service is responsive to the diverse needs and preferences of young adults. Effective communication with the Project Manager, families, and professionals is essential to address service user needs and concerns.
