The Parent and Baby Service are looking to recruit to a full-time band 6 Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner. The successful candidate will:
* Carry out mental health assessments, including risk to service users experiencing a deterioration in mental health in the perinatal period.
* Take the lead in decisions and supervision and guide more junior staff.
* Work closely with the service user to provide them with the right treatment pathway for them to follow.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Assess and manage mental health needs, including risk, to create care plans with the individual that will lead to recovery whilst supporting them with a safety plan.
2. Act as the duty lead on shift and allocate work to other team members as appropriate, to run the shift in a safe and effective way.
3. Manage and prioritise work that is allocated to you, to complete the assessment of mental health and risk and record on electronic systems as needed.
4. Supervise and manage the caseload of more junior staff.

Job Responsibilities
1. Work in conjunction with other professionals (e.g., GPs, midwifery, health visiting team).
2. Work in partnership with the individual to develop a plan of care that the service user agrees with.
3. Review the effectiveness of the care plan where appropriate.
4. Make a speedy and appropriate response to all work referred.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registration to a professional body, with post-qualification experience in mental health (e.g., Nursing, Social Worker, OT).
Experience
* Experience of assessment and care planning within either a health or social care setting, including an understanding of needs-led assessments.
Knowledge
* Demonstrate activity in promoting the involvement of users/clients in decision-making.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year pro rata per annum.
