Key drivers are design for ultra small volume, versatility, and high reliability.General Accountabilities - Power Electronics EngineerDesign of circuits and sub-systems to meet customer requirements and ensure a reliable, manufacturable product that meets the cost targetsProvides fast, accurate, and technically competent resolution of technical issues during the development, production and in serviceVerification of the circuit and systems design through design simulation, practical test, and appropriate environmental testConsiders regulatory, legislative, environmental and safety standards in designUnderwrites changes to product build standard post the product launch as might be driven by continuous improvement activities, obsolescence, legislative or regulatory changesIdentifies IPR/patent issues and opportunities ensuring these are assessed and drives raising of claims as requiredRegular review of the product market and technology advances to identify opportunities to develop new products and/or upgrades. Work with the business leadership to develop these into future development as appropriateSkills and Experience - Power Electronics EngineerYou will likely have skills/knowledge in some of the following areas:Knowledge in design of power electronic systems:Switch Mode PSU designPCB DesignHigh frequency digital and analogue circuits in MILSPEC applicationsHigh frequency magnetic components (transformers).High Voltage and high power experience ideal – 3 to 10kV, 500W to 2kWExperienced in design for Reliability (MTBF) in electronic systemsAppreciation of electronics encapsulation in demanding environmentsExperienced in analysis of design failure mechanisms using DfMEA/FMECA.Demonstrates clear understanding of the demands of electrical safety and models safe working practicesKnowledge of PCB layout tools and manufacturing techniques or similar for schematic capture & Mathcad
