Full-time: Band 5 £29,970 - £36,483 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week, plus on-call commitments, evenings and weekends, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

Our Imaging Department has a wide range of DR imaging modalities and has a Trust wide PACS. We invest in high quality patient care which we are proud of and in which the local community has confidence. We value all our staff as individuals and help each to realise their full potential.
We are able to provide rotation through our Interventional and Cardiology suites, alongside our dynamic trauma-acute-and-general x-ray service.Our departmentsupports role extension; we have experienced radiographers reporting the axial & appendicular skeleton, and chest & abdominal images.
Student radiographers rotate through the department from the University of Hertfordshire and apprentice radiographers rotate through the department who study at the University of Exeter. We invite any student radiographer or apprentice due to qualify before 30 September 2025 to apply for this post.
It is an exciting time to join Milton Keynes with plans underway to build a dedicated Imaging Scanning Centre for CT, MRI and Ultrasound within the next 2 years.

You work as a part of our friendly team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service delivering excellent patient care in line with our Trust core values. You will be expected to maintain high clinical standards and share this practice with colleagues and students.
• To help organise and participate in the day to day running of the assigned area of radiographic work.
• To appear on duty promptly, following trust uniform policy and while at work behaving in a professional and courteous manner.
• To undertake a wide range of radiographic examinations in the best interests of the patient whilst minimising radiation dose and using resources optimally.
• To ensure a high-quality, safe, and responsive diagnostic imaging service is maintained with patient waiting times kept to a minimum.
• To acquire knowledge of developments in imaging techniques and to improve and maintain professional expertise via continuous professional development.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to CPD and a practical knowledge of radiation protection, legislation, and health & safety requirements. A flexible approach to working is required. Above all, patients must be at the forefront of your practice.
Clinical:
• To carry out high quality imaging examinations across a range of modalities to the agreed standard of the imaging department.
• To maintain a high standard of patient care and comfort and be patient focused at all times.
Communication:
• Possesses the skills necessary to deliver services to patients with a variety of presentations including the unconscious, uncooperative, incapacitated, incompetent, confused, those with physical &/or mental disability and those exhibiting anti-social or threatening behaviour.
• Communicates effectively, empathically, and persuasively with patients to facilitate accurate positioning of patients and obtain diagnostic images. This will include dealing with patients (and their relatives or carers) who may have communication difficulties e.g., deafness or who speak a foreign language.
General responsibilities:
• Demonstratesexcellent time management & prioritisation skills; takes responsibility for the management of own work activities and learning.
• Is fully conversant with departmental policies and supports the department in ensuring that performance complies with departmental and professional standards.
