Commercial Vehicle Field Service Engineer
Our client, a global leader in the supply of mechanical, hydrodynamic, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic drive and braking systems, is seeking a Commercial Vehicle Field Service Engineer to join their team.
Position: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Home-based and on customer sites, ideally located in or around the Luton area, north of the M25, to provide support across regions including Oxford and Norwich.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform diagnostics and repairs at customer and third-party locations.
2. Conduct major unit replacements on-site as needed.
3. Provide support to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and assist with new product launches.
4. Collaborate with the Commercial Vehicle sales team to promote product performance and identify field service opportunities.
5. Offer technical support and advice to sales colleagues.
6. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and their representatives.
7. Communicate with Health & Safety and Field Service Managers regarding any on-site issues.
8. Minimise asset downtime through efficient customer collaboration.
9. Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines.
10. Represent the company professionally at all times.
11. Complete assignments at the company's workshop facilities when required.
12. Ensure timely completion and submission of all paperwork and engineering reports.
13. Manage expenses and stock levels responsibly.
14. Maintain company vehicles as per policy and participate in stock takes.
15. Stay updated on training requirements, both mandatory and product-specific.
16. Share product knowledge and provide feedback on quality issues as observed.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Strong background in Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) and bus systems.
2. Completed engineering apprenticeship (minimum Level 5 qualification preferred).
3. Experience in field service and engineering, with exposure to electric vehicles.
4. Excellent diagnostic skills and IT proficiency.
5. Full UK driving license.
6. Must pass a Drugs and Alcohol-related Medical upon joining.
Benefits Package:
£50,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
41 hours per week (Monday-Thursday, 8 am-5 pm; Friday, 8 am-3.30 pm)
