Think Western Isles. Think Wellbeing.
Have you got a passion for remote and rural healthcare? Are you keen to escape the rat race and embrace a healthier work life balance? Do you want to join an organisation with a caring workplace culture?
If you answered ‘yes’, NHS Western Isles has the perfect opportunity for you. This is an exciting chance to join our Executive Team as Nurse/AHP Director and Chief Operating Officer, where you will become part of the NHS Western Isles family, as one of our senior leaders.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader, who is motivated to improve the health and wellbeing of the Western Isles community, and to deliver high quality, safe and sustainable clinical services in a remote and island community setting. As an organisation, we are strongly committed to nurturing the wellbeing of our staff and creating a positive work environment, and there would be a strong support network for anyone taking on this role.
You will be one of the Board’s principal advisors, providing specialist advice on all aspects of nursing, midwifery and allied health professional services. You will also be the Executive lead for operational service planning and delivery, healthcare associated infections, whistleblowing, implementation of the Health and Social Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019 and public protection. Quality, safety and risk will be an agreed shared portfolio with the Medical Director. You will have responsibility for the Single Operating Division and will play a key role in delivering effective, improved integrated Health and Social Care Services. This is a role with significant opportunity to develop and innovate, and the remote island location provides a very special extra sense of responsibility, job satisfaction and reward.
Known as Scotland’s Atlantic Islands, the Western Isles are steeped in history and culture, with stunning landscapes, spectacular coastlines, a strong sense of community and identity, and renowned Hebridean hospitality. For those with young families, the Western Isles also offer a safe place to live, a high quality education system, with low levels of crime.
You must be an NMC registered nurse educated to Masters Level with extensive broad and current senior management experience.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Gordon Jamieson, Chief Executive, NHS Western Isles on (01851) 708063 or gordon.jamieson@nhs.scot.
