TGRC has partnered with s UK-based company focused on developing, building, and managing large-scale renewable energy projects, such as solar farms and battery storage systems. Their mission is to provide cleaner, sustainable, and community-driven energy solutions to help tackle climate change.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Head of Grid in shaping our internal grid targeting strategy and negotiating grid offers, covering pricing, milestones, and payment terms.
* Support the tendering and selection of Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), including defining the scope of work and evaluating responses.
* Collaborate with the Development team to assess grid suitability for early-stage projects, acquisitions, and disposals.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with leading ICPs in the industry.
* Provide technical grid and connection support throughout asset construction.
* Develop and oversee in-house grid technical standards and tools.
* Assist in project development, ensuring grid-related factors are properly considered and addressed.
* Conduct grid capacity assessments across UK distribution and transmission networks, evaluating connection costs and timelines.
* Manage and update grid-related project data within the management system and records.
* Prepare and submit grid applications (DNO and NESO), ensuring timely processing and engagement with connection procedures.
* Handle project progression and modification applications to facilitate the grid connection process and secure variation offers.
* Drive efforts to accelerate grid connection timelines in line with UK connection reform processes.
* Foster and maintain strong working relationships with DNOs and NESO throughout the grid connection, design, and delivery stages.
* Assist in preparing and submitting Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for engaging grid consultants and ICPs.
Required Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years of industry experience within DNOs, NGET/NESO, renewable developers/IPPs, grid consultancies, or ICPs.
* Proven expertise in identifying grid capacity, resolving grid-related challenges, and mitigating connection issues or delays.
* Strong understanding of grid connection policies and regulations, including grid acceleration and queue management processes.
* Familiarity with ICP design and construction, with hands-on experience in contract negotiation.
* Solid commercial acumen with a successful track record in managing grid offers and connection agreements.
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, complemented by relevant industry experience.
* Knowledge of standard construction practices and equipment costs related to grid connections.
* Strong grasp of technical best practices for connection work in the UK, along with an understanding of GB DNO/NESO generator connection application processes and regulations.
* Prior experience conducting due diligence for potential project acquisitions, assessing grid connection risks, costs, and timelines.
* Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills, capable of addressing challenges and developing innovative solutions.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
