Peel Medical Practice is looking for a Part-time Receptionist who is professional, flexible, reliable, and has a track record of excellent customer service skills.
Experience in General Practice is desirable but not essential.
You will join a team of 13 working a 5-day week. The team is supportive, and the practice is innovative with a long history of developing and looking after our staff.
The practice opening hours are from 7:30 - 18:30 with extended hours commitments which may incur an 8pm finish or a Saturday morning working arrangement. The successful candidate must be flexible in their hours based on the demands of the rotas and to fit in with the business needs of the surgery.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.
Duties can include but are not limited to:
* Greeting and directing patients.
* Patient registration.
* Booking and rearranging appointments.
* Processing of information (electronic and hard copy).
* Assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point of contact for patients and the distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Job responsibilities
Reception Duties
* Ensure an effective and efficient reception and signposting service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
* Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
* Action all E-Consults as per practice protocol.
* Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
* Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
* Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
* Receive requests for home visits ensuring careful recording of all relevant details.
* Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient.
* Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment, and issue receipts.
* Enter patient information onto the computer as required.
* Open up the premises at the start of the day when first to arrive, deactivate alarm, and make all necessary preparations to receive patients. On closure, ensure that the building is secured, internal lights and air conditioning/fans are off, and the alarm activated.
* Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.
* Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
* Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the management team.

* Experience of working in demanding situations.
