It’s often overwhelming for the people we support to make changes in their lives, as a recovery coach volunteer you will be using your own experiences of recovery to help others and demonstrate change is possible. You will be working alongside the recovery coordinators and wider teams to promote recovery and support service users on a one to one basis, guiding them to achieve their goals and build recovery capital. This can include supporting them to attend a group or appointments, helping them to complete application forms and access external support from services such housing, mutual aid, and community projects. You will also be making telephone calls to service users providing them with a listening ear, guidance and support. You will be a positive role model to the service users motivating, encouraging, and inspiring them to reach their potential. You will be provided with all the skills, training and support you will need to undertake the role.
