Description National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an Engineer to join our improvements team in the Northwest region. As an Engineer you will investigate traffic collisions, analyse congestion problems, identify active travel needs and design solutions for engineering improvements to the network, while ensuring adherence to defined policies and standards. This position can be based from either Penrith, Preston or Warrington. You will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have a full driving license with no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment Investigation of road traffic collisions and development of mitigating measures. Analysis of traffic congestion problems and development of engineering solutions. Undertaking Road Safety Audits on highway improvement schemes. Developing the technical briefs provided to design contractors for improvement works. Reviewing third-party improvement schemes for safety, capacity and compliance to standards. About you. Degree or HND in relevant discipline and appropriate experience or equivalent, membership of professional body is (desirable). Experience in producing technical reports, desk studies, interpretative reports, highway infrastructure design and relevant construction and delivery methods (DMRB) Experience of traffic collision investigation and safety engineering Understanding of the Value Management process or cost benefit analysis schemes Knowledge of CDM 2015 and experience in AutoCAD and/or traffic modelling software (desirable) About us Here at National Highways, we manage and improve England’s motorways and major A roads, helping our customers have safer, smoother and more reliable journeys.
