This senior clinical fellow post (ST5+ equivalent) is based within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, which has one of the largest paediatric orthopaedic units in the country and is the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre for South West England.
This post is a 6 month appointment, suitable for those interested in Paediatric Orthopaedics.
Main duties of the job
The department currently comprises nine substantive orthopaedic surgeons, all of whom take part in the paediatric trauma on-call, 5 specialist trainees (Severn deanery) and 3 junior clinical fellows.
This post is intended to support the development of senior trainees who wish to pursue a career as a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon.
The successful individual will gain experience in a wide range of secondary and tertiary elective referrals as well as the management of routine and complex trauma cases, as the hospital serves as the Paediatric Major Trauma Unit for South West England.

Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
* At least 4 years of approved training in orthopaedic surgery
* Specialist interest in paediatric orthopaedics
* Experience of teaching
* At least 6 months experience in paediatric orthopaedic surgery at registrar level
* ATLS or equivalents
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to manage time effectively
* Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
* Ability to communicate clearly with children, their families and allied health workers
* Evidence of understanding of role of clinical management
Qualifications and Training
* MBChB (or equivalent)
* GMC Registration with licence to practice
* FRCS Orth (or equivalent)
* Teaching qualification
