Groundworks Manager - Civil Engineering & Highways (South East)

Are you an experienced Groundworks Manager with a strong background in civil engineering and public highways projects? Do you have a passion for leading teams and delivering large-scale groundworks operations to the highest standard? If so, we want to hear from you.
We are looking for a leading civil engineering contractor seeking a skilled and driven Groundworks Manager to take charge of our in-house groundworks operations. Based in the South East, you will oversee and lead large teams involved in complex civil engineering and highways works in the Home Counties.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a hands-on engineering background who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage all aspects of groundworks operations for a variety of civil engineering projects, with a focus on public highways.
2. Supervise and coordinate a large team of groundworks and civil engineering professionals.
3. Plan and execute work programmes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
4. Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, ensuring safe and efficient working practices.
5. Monitor project progress, resolve any site issues, and manage resources effectively.
6. Work closely with senior management, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards, particularly in relation to public highways.
Key Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a Groundworks Manager, Civil Engineer, or Site Manager, with a strong background in groundworks and public highways.
2. Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams in a construction or civil engineering environment.
3. A hands-on approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.
4. A solid understanding of civil engineering principles, with relevant qualifications (Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent).
5. In-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
6. Experience in managing projects from inception to completion, with a strong track record in large-scale groundworks projects.
7. A valid CSCS card and ideally, a Site Manager's or Project Manager's qualification (SMSTS or similar).
8. Full UK driving license.
