As a Learning Assistant, you will be supporting students requiring additional help with their programmes of study across various areas within College, creating positive relationships with them and assisting them in a classroom or workshop setting. This will include students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, including emotional, social, behavioural and mobility needs. The work you do as a Learning Assistant will ensure our students’ have an outstanding and fulfilling experience at college. Key Responsibilities of our Learning Assistant: To support, within and outside the classroom, the learning and emotional/social/ behavioural needs of students receiving additional support, in accordance with College policies. To provide support for personal care where necessary, including administering medication. To assist the Head of Learning Support and Resources, Learning Support Team Leaders and Lecturers in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials/resources. To take part in and ensure the smooth and effective administration of the provision. To create and maintain accurate records. To assist in the assessment of student needs. To continually review the students’ support needs. To attend team and all other meetings regarding both student and curriculum development. To liaise with the Learning Support Team Leaders, Student Tutors and Lecturers on a daily basis. To supervise student learning where necessary. Skills & Qualifications we are looking for in our Learning Assistant: GCSE (or equivalent) in English at grade C or above Experience working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, emotional, social and behavioural needs Experience supporting the learning needs of students Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults Working for the Chichester College Group also offers a highly competitive pension scheme, above-statutory annual leave, which is paid as part of the salary for this term time only role.
