Due to an ever-increasing demand for our services, Bromley Healthcare's Children's SLT Service is expanding our supportive team.

Main duties of the job
1. To develop and provide universal, targeted and specialist speech and language therapy services to patients with speech, language and communication needs.
2. To make a differential diagnosis based on evidence from assessment, leading to decisions about intervention/treatment.
3. To communicate complex condition-related information, from assessment to patients/clients, carers, families, and members of the multidisciplinary team/other professions.
4. To maintain sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs of patients/clients and their carers.
5. To negotiate and work closely with patients/clients, carers, families, and other professionals, agreeing decision-making and prioritisation relevant to the patient/client’s management.
6. To initiate and provide a variety of treatment options according to patients' needs.
7. To use forms of alternative and augmentative communication as indicated from assessment to maximise the client’s communication.
8. To demonstrate empathy with clients, carers and families, aiming to achieve effective communication.
9. To adapt practice to meet individual patient/client circumstances.
10. To form productive relationships with clients who may be under stress and/or have challenging communication difficulties.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Recognised speech & language therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
* Successful completion of RCSLT newly qualified competencies.
* Health Professions Council License to practice.
* Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* Membership of relevant CEN.
* Evidence of appropriate external and internal training.
Experience
* Evidence of developing responsibility for clinic and caseload management.
* Experience of working with other professionals relevant to client groups.
* Pre-school and school age experience.
* Secondary age experience.
Specific Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, listening and empathy.
* Well-developed analytical skills for case load management, assessment and therapy.
* Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
* Ability to transcribe speech phonetically.
* Skills in handling clients/patients with disabilities.
* Ability to maintain intense concentration in all aspects of patient management.
* Well-organised, reflective practitioner.
* UK Drivers license & access to car for work purposes.
