Civil Engineer Job in Toronto, Canada - Career Opportunity with Matchtech
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team in Toronto, Canada. This is a permanent opportunity for a Civil Engineer with UK Railway experience to relocate to Toronto.
The successful candidate will work on Civil designs for Rail projects (High Speed, Metro, LRT, streetcars) in the Toronto office. Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting the Design Manager in developing construction documents for the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel Project
* Monitoring the Design Schedule, tracking deliverable dates, and preparing a look-ahead schedule for distribution
* Identifying design issues and preparing RFIs to send to the client as required
* Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure that design solutions are fully coordinated with contract requirements
* Developing drawings, sketches, and support documents using BIM and CAD personnel
* Tracking and monitoring Design Interfaces – Internal, External with Client and External with Third Parties
* Reviewing contract requirements and ensuring Compliance
* Participating in Change Management process and assisting Commercial Manager when required
* Design Issues Tracking and Issues Resolution
* Liaising with Project Document Control Manager to ensure procedures are being adhered to and key documents uploaded to Client are compliant
* Reviewing Project and Company procedures for Design Quality Management and tracking performance
* Attending internal and external meetings and keeping meeting minute records
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* 5-8 years of experience as a Civil engineer, including alignment (mandatory)
* Some experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager is an asset
* Must have experience in detailed design coordination
* PMP training is an asset
* High skills in Inroads or Power Rail Track are mandatory
* Sound technical/business judgment in the evaluation, organization, management, and experience of design activities
* Able to develop plans, specifications, technical notes & calculations, etc., with minimal supervision
* Ability to develop non-standard solutions
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team
* Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
* Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, partners, contractors, etc.
* Willingness to learn, develop, and apply new techniques, standards, and processes
* Willingness to take on additional tasks as needed
* Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
* Excellent analytical and technical writing skills, excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
* Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is critical
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience
