Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month fixed term position within our Bone Marrow Transplant and Immune Effector Cell Coordination Team, focussing on patient pathways and stem cell storage and discard. The successful applicant will work as part of the multidisciplinary team in the BMT co-ordination team, to providing a seamless service to patients referred to the service. Remote supervision will be provided by the registered nurses (RN) within the BMT Co-ordination team. This role will also provide administrative support to a team containing medical coordinators, nurse specialists and consultants treating patients with a wide range of conditions both malignant and non-malignant. The purpose of the role is to ensure that complex treatment is planned and all necessary arrangements are in place for the treatment to take place, as well as managing the review and possible discard of stored stem cells that fit the discard criteria as set out in our local policy Please see job description for more detailed explanation. Main duties of the job Communication :. oTo deal with queries relating to the coordination of patients treatments, and escalating any concerns or issues to the nurse specialist and medical coordinator oKeep all team members informed of plans and patient progress, initiating recommended changes as necessary. oLiaise with Clinical Nurse Specialists to ensure patient can access support. To liaise with patients about stored stem cells and activate discard of cells as deemed appropriate oTo ensure that any private patient accepted for treatment has appropriate documentation completed, and that the Deputy Performance and Operations Manager and Divisional Finance Manager/Deputy have been informed in order to ensure that the patient has appropriate funding prior to the procedure taking place oTo identify any patients who are potential overseas visitors and to inform the Trust Overseas Team before the patient commences treatment, to ensure that eligibility for free NHS treatment is agreed, or appropriate funding is identified and authorised if not eligible for free treatment. oTo identify any patients who are 'out of area' (Wales, EU and overseas), and to inform the Clinician and Deputy Performance and Operations Manager, to ensure appropriate funding from the commissioners is approved before treatment commences.
