Great that you're thinking about a career with BSI Job Title: Head of Standards Development - Maternity Cover Location: Chiswick, Greater London About the role: The Head of Standards Development is a 12month Maternity cover hybrid working position. You will be leading the BSI standards development programme on environment, social, and governance issues, and develop the publishing strategy for ESG standards. The job holder will work closely with colleagues in sector, policy, and marketing teams, as well as colleagues across the BSI Group, to maximize the potential of the ESG portfolio of standards. You will also lead a team of Standards Development Managers responsible for working with committees to ensure that the standards programmes meet an identified market need and are used by their intended audience. Responsibilities: Leading a programme of standards and related activities to help businesses address issues and improve performance about ESG issues, ensuring that the committee activities are in alignment with the broader BSI and sector strategy Contributing to the ESG standards strategy, with particular focus on the standards publishing plan and how to drive uptake and impact of ESG standards and build the customer base Managing a team of Standards Development Managers and Lead Standards Development Managers, developing and empowering the team to take ownership of the revenue performance and impact of their committees Maintain and manage relationships with a network of key stakeholders and nominating bodies, attending industry events as necessary to project a positive external image of BSI Working with BSI’s policy team, ensure that BSI takes leadership roles and influences the future development of standards in international and European standards bodies Providing support and advice on committee management, helping team members to address issues relating to committees and work programmes and taking a troubleshooting role if necessary to ensure that complaints and conflicts are resolved Work with Standards Development Managers to set priorities for time allocation across the portfolio of committees to meet business needs and ensure a good level of service is maintained across all committees, and provide leadership for the team in relation to improving the committee experience To be successful in the role, you will have: Knowledge of environmental, social and governance standards and broad sustainability knowledge Leadership of the team – direction, motivation, coaching and employee development Experience and/or understanding of standards creation and development. Strong matrix management and interpersonal skills, able to work across the business at a senior level. Strong engagement and stakeholder management skills Commercial aptitude and a good understanding of financial information with the ability to develop multi-year business cases and revenue forecasts. Familiarity with marketing concepts and ability to contribute to go-to-market planning and marketing strategy. Excellent planning and organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills, including persuasion, negotiation and conflict management. Confidence in presenting to large audiences.
