The annual workload for Clinical Biochemistry is currently 430000 requests, 60% originating from GPs. Clinical Biochemistry is fully equipped with Roche Cobas 8000s, Cobas 8100 pre- analytical equipment, Sebia capillary electrophoresis and Hba1c analysis. The Department is also extensively involved with Point of Care (including Roche Inform glucose and Coagucheck meters, Werfen IL5000 blood gas analysers and Nova blood ketone meters). The Department uses the Laboratory Information System Clinisys Winpath. A position for a Band 5 State Registered Biomedical Scientist within the Department is now available. Following training the successful candidate must be prepared to take part in the Out of Hours rota, for which a shift enhancement is paid.
