The scale and breadth of tax implications is wide-reaching, and ever-changing regulations mean that this landscape is becoming increasingly complex for businesses to manage. Our teams work with clients to navigate these challenges, leveraging the experience and expertise of our multidisciplinary practice to help them succeed.
We are looking for someone with business development experience to join our growing team. This role is primarily focused on helping to achieve our ambitious growth plan for KPMG Law through leading the execution of sales activity in the market.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, and client focused, with an ability to spot new business opportunities. This role is suited to someone who enjoys building relationships and understanding clients' issues to match them with the most appropriate solutions. Working alongside our legal specialists, you will gain a broad understanding of the key issues that our clients face and how we can help to address them with our broad range of propositions. The Business Development Manager will be responsible new client acquisition, so they will need to be tenacious and resilient to help open new relationships and help us gain market share. An ability to influence internal senior stakeholders and clients is also key, as increasing service line penetration across accounts is another fundamental part of the role.
Responsibilities include:
1. Driving market focused activity to strengthen our client relationships and deliver excellent client service across the sales cycle
2. Developing a broad understanding of Tax and Legal's key client issues and propositions
3. Helping to open new relationships with businesses that are cold to our Tax and Legal practice. Work alongside our tax and legal specialists to nurture and grow relationships on high potential accounts with no existing relationships, and identify most appropriate successors to lead accounts once relationships are established
4. Developing and executing origination strategies for specific business areas, and working alongside our leadership to qualify and prioritise market activity
5. Working with client service teams to increase the number of services we provide to our existing clients in the early stages of our relationships
6. Building a network across all Tax and Legal service lines and leverage a broad range of experts to ensure clients receive the best possible service for their individual requirements
7. Leading the activation of campaigns in the market, including helping to refine messaging and identify gaps in our service offerings based on clients' feedback and requirements
8. Expanding stakeholder relationships on existing client accounts by mapping key contacts across the business and helping to generate meetings with unknown contacts
9. Maintaining a good understanding of relevant content and market activity, and leveraging these insights to spot new business opportunities
10. Helping to identify opportunities for Tax and Legal to collaborate with the firm's other capabilities (Deal Advisory and Consulting) to drive and integrated approach in the market
Skills and experience required:
11. Tax experience or experience of selling tax services and/or solutions
12. Communicates with impact, in a way that is open, honest and clear
13. Comfortable managing a large portfolio of targets and client relationships
14. A commercial outlook with a focus on results
15. Strong influencer, including senior internal and external stakeholders
16. Ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
17. Good facilitation skills for client calls and meetings
18. Ability to coach and develop others
