Bath & North East Somerset Council has developed a range of accommodation options in Bath for homeless households. Our new supported housing service is managed in house, with Council staff supporting residents and preparing them to move on to their own homes. The team also manages the Council’s brand-new general needs social housing.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic team leader to join Housing Services’ B&NES Homes Supported Housing Team.
As a Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in helping homeless households and individuals with complex needs and long experience of sleeping rough to transition to independent living. You will supervise and guide a team of Support Workers, manage assets and staff, and provide direct support to our residents. Your responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing and supporting the Council’s supported housing and general needs social housing schemes, ensuring smooth operations and an excellent service.
* Managing a dedicated team of support workers within the B&NES Homes Supported Housing Team, providing guidance, supervision and motivation.
* Providing facilities management for the Council’s accommodation sites, coordinating maintenance, security and general services.
* Assisting service users, with various needs, to find suitable housing solutions.
* Developing and implementing policies and procedures for operational and managerial aspects of the Council’s supported and social housing, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.
About You
We need someone who:
* Is experienced in working with people with complex needs and a history of rough sleeping.
* Is experienced in housing management and supporting clients in a supported housing, rough sleeping or homelessness setting.
* Has a good working knowledge of the social and private rented sector, welfare benefits, homelessness and social housing legislation and housing management issues.
* Understands the impact of trauma and how psychologically informed practice aids recovery.
* Understands and promotes strong partnership working arrangements.
This is an in-person role, based in the Council’s accommodation in Grosvenor Place, Bath. The post holder will also be required to work at the Council’s other supported housing sites.
It is strongly desirable for candidates to have a background in supported housing, homelessness, housing management, welfare support or a similar field.
The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.
