Base pay range
My client is seeking an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join their team in managing all costs relating to projects, especially the fit-out packages such as drylining and/or carpentry. The ideal candidate will ensure that the financial aspects of construction projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
Duties:
1. Estimate Preparation:
o Analyse project plans, specifications, and related documentation to create detailed cost estimates.
o Identify and quantify cost factors such as production time, materials, and labour expenses.
o Prepare comprehensive takeoffs and pricing for all project components.
2. Bid Management:
o Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather essential information for estimates.
o Compile and submit bid packages to clients promptly.
o Review and interpret bid documents and proposals, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
3. Cost Analysis and Reporting:
o Monitor and analyse cost trends and discrepancies to maintain estimate accuracy.
o Provide detailed reports and cost breakdowns for management review.
o Update and manage cost databases to reflect current market conditions.
4. Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
o Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
o Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
o Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with project teams to understand project requirements and constraints.
o Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project scope and specifications.
o Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project kick-off meetings as needed.
6. Skill Development and Flexibility:
o Continuously seek opportunities to learn new skills and enhance existing ones.
o Adapt to changing project requirements and work on multiple packages simultaneously.
o Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, MRICS qualification, or a related field.
2. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a subcontractor in the UK.
3. Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam).
4. Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
5. Motivation: Highly motivated with a strong commitment to delivering quality work on time.
6. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
7. Learning and Development: Eagerness to learn new skills and develop professionally.
